# Welcome to Turbo

> What Turbo is, what you can trade, and where to start.

Turbo is a mobile trading app for global markets, open 24/7/365. Trade 260+ markets across stocks, commodities like gold and oil, indices, currencies, crypto and Pre-IPO names, from one app, at any hour.

Turbo is in private beta, and availability varies by region. Join the waitlist at [turbo.co](https://turbo.co) and you'll be first in line as we open up where you are.

## How Turbo works

Turbo markets are built on perpetual futures — contracts that track the live price of an asset and never expire. Because a contract has no closing bell, markets don't have to close: everything on Turbo trades around the clock. Prices come from a live order book, so you can see the current bids and offers at any hour.

You're trading a contract that tracks an asset's live price, not the underlying shares themselves. You get the price exposure, long or short, without shareholder rights such as voting or dividends. [Markets](/markets) has the full picture.

## Understand the mechanics

Leverage, margin, and liquidation decide how much you can gain or lose, so it's worth ten minutes to understand them before you size up:

* [Leverage](/leverage) — how it multiplies a position, in both directions.
* [Margin: isolated and cross](/margin) — the collateral behind each position, and the two margin modes that decide your worst case.
* [Your balance](/balance) — cash, used margin, and margin health explained.
* [Liquidation](/liquidation) — when it happens and how to stay clear of it.

## Trade with control

Every position can carry a [take profit and stop loss](/take-profit-stop-loss), and [order types](/order-types) covers when to use market versus limit orders. [Top traders](/top-traders) explains how public track records work, and [Security and custody](/security) explains who holds your money and how.

## Turbo and your broker

Many traders keep a long-term portfolio where it is and use Turbo for the markets and the hours their broker doesn't cover. The two work fine side by side.

## A note on advice

Turbo gives you markets, data, and tools — the decisions and the risk are yours. Nothing on Turbo, or in these docs, is a recommendation to buy or sell.
