Paper trading lets you trade Turbo’s live markets with virtual money. Orders fill on a simulated exchange, so nothing is at risk — and nothing you make is real either.

Starting a paper account

Turn it on from your profile: pick a starting balance and Turbo creates a paper account for you. While paper mode is on, a banner at the top of the app says so, and every order you place uses virtual cash.

What’s real and what isn’t

  • Real: the markets, the live prices, and the order screens. Paper trading uses the same markets and the same flow as live trading.
  • Not real: the balance, the profit and loss, and the fills. Fills come from a simulated exchange, not the live order book, so a paper fill is not proof that the same order would fill live at that price.
  • Paper trades never touch your real balance or your real positions.

Topping up, resetting, switching

  • Add virtual cash any time. It uses the same deposit screens as real money, with “Virtual cash” as the method.
  • Reset wipes the paper account’s positions, orders, and history and puts the balance back to the starting amount; the account shows how many times it has been reset. A paper account that has stopped — for example after being wiped out — has to be reset before it can trade again.
  • Switch between paper and real money whenever you like, from the banner or your profile. Your paper account and its open positions keep running in the background while you trade live.
  • Get set up — the path from download to first real trade.
  • Leverage — worth practicing on paper before you use it for real.
